Duration/ Who Should Attend:

This session is for Local Authority (Kent) Schools only. This half day course is for school-based finance staff whose responsibilities include ensuring that the school’s FMS6 system includes the correct information and is up to date. Ideally staff should be familiar with using FMS6.

Course Description

This course will include demonstration and practise of the following procedures making reference to the KCC Financial Controls and the School Model Finance Policy.

• Checking the School’s structure and how to correct any linking errors.
• Update the Income and expenditure / Reconciliation report where required.
• Checking that the funding / income on the Statement of Accounts has been processed correctly.
• Checking balances on the control codes including VAT codes.

By the end of the session delegates will be able to:-

• Agree that Budget Share funding balances on the Statement of Accounts balance to FMS6.
• Update the Income and expenditure / Reconciliation report for missing codes.
• Reconcile Control codes including VAT codes.
• Identify errors and make corrections to FMS6.
• Be able to complete future Healthcheck’s on a regular basis.
