Understanding the New EYFS Framework for Maths: What’s all this about ‘subitising’?

Event description Credit worthy - A subject knowledge course for teachers in EYFS and Year 1 to explore the requirements of the new EYFS Framework and particularly to develop understanding of the key mathematical skill of 'subitising'. How do we help our youngest learners to secure their counting skills? Why do some children in Year 1 not remember their number bonds? This course will explore 'subitising' as a key foundational skill to prepare pupils for the demands of mathematics as they move through the key stages.

This session will run as an interactive Zoom session. Confirmed delegates will be e-mailed the link 24 hours prior to the session. Please ensure you are able to access Zoom at least 1 hour prior to the session. Please note that these are not recorded and therefore not available to watch at a later date and delegates need to attend as a live session.

- Understand why subitising is such an important foundational skill for all learners
- Know which aspects of maths subitising underpins
- Develop a bank of activities that can be used with pupils from EYFS to Y6 to teach pupils to subitise
