Microaggressions - what can you do as an employer to be more inclusive and diverse in your workforce? (Cancelled)

Reason for cancellation Low Numbers
Event code SCH 22/588
Event description The term “microaggression” some of you may be familiar with, for others this may be a new concept. One thing is for sure it is an interesting subject that opens up the opportunity for debate, is thought provoking and can also be dependent on context.

Since they’re labelled “micro,” by definition, they’re small which is one of the reasons why they’re easy to miss if you don’t know what you’re looking for. Often, they can be seen to be small seemingly innocuous comments, often appearing to be compliments or genuinely expressed questions, about people based on some element of their identity. They are in fact “unintentional expressions of bias and/or racism, sexism, ageism or other forms of discrimination.”

Join me for an overview session that will explore:
1. Origins of microaggressions
2. How to spot a microaggression
3. The different types of microaggressions
4. Do’s and don’ts of microaggressions and examples
5. Recommendations to take away and implement
