Event description | The transition from Student teacher to NQT can sometimes seem overwhelming and the Primary Induction programme has been designed to ensure that these first steps are built on a strong foundation. These sessions are designed to be interactive and delegates are asked to come prepared to play an active part, they are very full sessions and would ask delegates to arrive in good time. |

Training objectives | It is expected that delegates will attend all 6 sessions of this programme. Session 1 - This session will introduce NQTs to the statutory requirements of their induction year and will include: • How to make the most of our induction year • Creating an impact FILE • Making the most of your mentor and preparing for meetings We will also look at: • Working with teaching assistants and other professional • Creating an effective learning environment Session 2 - This session will focus on Assessment for learning, questioning and feedback topics covered will be: • Why • How • When • And look at the benefits and address misconceptions Session 3 - Our focus for this session will be on Behaviour management, this session is delivered by a behaviour management consultant and will cover a vast range of topics including • How to deal effectively with BM issues without it impacting on other students • 5 step plans • Consequences and how to manage them This is a very interactive session which has always been well received by delegates Session 4 - Our focus for this session will be everything SEN, it will look at practical solutions to SEN issues and explore a variety of resources, give tips and advice on how to ensure that every class is inclusive and allows pupils to succeed. The session is delivered by an experienced Special Educational Needs advisor and SENCO and will introduce you to a range of freely available support sites covering the whole range of SEN needs Session 5 - Session five is called 'Awe or nothing' and poses the question what makes a great hook to ensure that all children are engaged in lesson, is your classroom AWE less, AWE some or AWE full. It will provide practical advice on how to create the spark that promotes life long learning We will undertake a book moderation activity, celebrating success across a multitude of settings Session 6 - This final session looks at what lies ahead, in the ever-changing educational environment it is not uncommon for teachers to experience rapid progression into leadership roles and the aims of this session are to: • Look at the role of tomorrows leaders • Pose the question “what type of leader are you”? • Prepares NQTs for the life of NQT plus 1 It is also a time to answer any outstanding questions |

Funding information | For subscribers of the Standards & School Improvement Service Level Agreement (SLA), one delegate from each school attends the programme free of charge. Additional delegates will be charged as follows and the charge will be shown against event code SCH 18/772 at a cost of 6 credits If credits are not available, additional bookings will be charged the same as non SLA delegates at a cost of £325.00 20% VAT will be added at the point of invoice |
