Building Understanding

Event code SCH 20/771
Event description Credit worthy.
Session 3 will look at setting and maintaining high expectations and student motivation topics covered will include:
- What is engagement and motivation?
- Creating a positive classroom culture based on high expectations and shared values
- How to ensure your behaviour matches your expectations.

The transition from Student teacher to NQT can sometimes seem overwhelming and the Primary Induction programme has been designed to ensure that these first steps are built on a strong foundation.

These sessions are designed to be interactive and delegates are asked to come prepared to play an active part, they are very full sessions and would ask delegates to arrive in good time.

Following feedback from NQTs/schools and in line with recently announced DFE initiatives we have decided to redesign the primary programme, there will always be something which needs to be covered earlier but we have tried to address as many areas as possible.

To support schools, NQTs and NQTs plus 1 we have moved our primary programme to an online platform, we understand that this has been a difficult year for many NQTs plus 1 and those who are just starting out as NQTs. We have worked with several ITT providers to try and offer an online programme which is comprehensive and builds a large range of skills and strategies.

We have linked with several experts to build a programme which offers up to 25 sessions starting from term 2. These are in most cases morning sessions and will be delivered by Zoom until things improve, this will; enable NQTs (+1’s) to take part whilst maintaining their bubbles. We feel that this programme offers exceptional value without compromising on the quality of delivery.

We feel that staff will need time to get organised so our sessions will start in term 2.

This event is part of the Primary NQT Induction Programme comprising of 25 half day zoom sessions. If you would like to book all 25 sessions at a discounted price, please book onto event SCH 20/579.

This session will run as an interactive zoom session. Confirmed delegates will be e-mailed the link 24 hours prior to the session. Please ensure, you can access zoom at least 1 hour prior to the session. Please note that zoom courses are not recorded.

If you have not used zoom before and require helpful tips, we recommend having a look at these:
