English as an Additional Language/Special Educational Needs or Both? Part 3 only: Accelerating the Progress of English as an Additional Language Learners

Event code SCH 22/092
Event description English as an Additional Language/Special Educational Needs or Both?

This training will support staff in schools to ensure that they are able to comply with the SEND code of practice in regard to SEN and EAL pupils:
"Identifying and assessing special educational needs for children or young people whose first language is not English requires particular care. Schools should look carefully at all aspects of a child or young person’s performance in different areas of learning and development or subjects to establish whether lack of progress is due to limitations in their command of English or if it arises from special educational needs or a Disability. Difficulties related solely to limitations in English as an additional language are not special educational needs"
6.24 Special educational needs and disability code of practice: 0 to 25 years.

** PLEASE NOTE: The Equality Diversity Inclusion Team (EDIT) are offering a suite of 4 English as an Additional Language training sessions to equip all staff in schools to meet the needs of EAL learners, from the induction of new arrivals to accelerating the progress of more advanced bilingual learners.
These courses are available as a suite of four sessions or as stand alone units. Schools purchasing all four consecutive sessions will be only charged for three but need to book onto SCH 21/762 only**

This session will run as an interactive Zoom session. Delegates will be sent the link no later than 24 hours before the start date. Please ensure you are able to access Zoom at least 1 hour prior to the session.
